There are quite a number of specialised private investigators who can conduct notarised trap purchases effectively. If possible, it is best that the investigator makes the payment, and then receives the samples and invoices at the infringer’s business premises. Investigator can ask notary public officers to accompany him during the transaction at infringer’s premises so that the whole process of infringing sales can be notarised on site. If it is done by a mail order, please check how the investigator will collect the samples. It is better for the investigator to collect the samples at the infringer’s premises.
However, if the infringer insists on delivery of the samples to the investigator's designated address through a messenger, then it seems unnecessary to notarise the investigator's receipt of the samples from the messenger as such notarised evidence will not be likely link to the infringer if the infringer uses a forged or incomplete mailing address. In that circumstance, the investigator should insist on obtaining an invoice which is affixed with the company stamp of the infringer and includes a description of the specific name and model of the samples.
